Here's my entry for Inspiration Emporium's October Challenge. The challenge is to create a decoration for your home that is spooky. They had some great projects from their design team. You have a chance to win a $50 gift card to their store. Go check out the challenge page and see what everyone else has come up with to spook you this Halloween season.

The treat box is cut with the Silhouette. The bat stamp is from Stampin' Up using the new Illuminate ink and the "31" is from Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers. Hope you enjoy!

Of course it's been a while since I've posted. I have fun news though. I recently had a baby and my time has been spent caring for his needs. I've not had the time to do much crafting lately but that's to be expected with all of the changes. I've been making Thank you cards and birthday cards for
when I need them. Otherwise I haven't been able to just play around and
make something just for fun. I'm going to try and start making more of
an effort to take the time to do something crafty.

While I've been up late at night though I keep thinking of all the things that I want to create and do. I want to work on making some layouts and cards, do some sewing, and finish the prayer shawl that I had started knitting. I need to have my creative outlet again and be able to have time for myself. Most of the time whenever I try and work on doing something there's always an interruption. I wonder how those of you with kids find the time to be crafty??? or is it something that you have the time for once the kids have grown up a little?

During my late nights, I have been thinking of how to reorganize my stash. I also have been slowly trying to de-stash. I've been doing that with all of my stuff not just my scrapping stuff. I so want to be able to really organize my stuff and find a home for everything but we're in a rental so half of my stuff is boxed up in the garage. It makes it harder to go through stuff when it's buried under other boxes, haha. Anyway, I want any advice you all have on making time to craft.

I've decided and have been making the effort to use up my supplies in the projects that I do. So with that said I've gathered all sorts of fun embellishments for my PL stuff and have it all in one area. I'll show you a photo of what I'm using for right now. I needed something portable since I don't have a permanent space to keep my crafty stuff out all the time. I've been able to play around and get the majority of the Jan. - March complete. I still need to add photos and journaling. It's great to use this format since I'm trying to play catch up. I also couldn't resist going back to last year and arranging photos for the last few months. I've finally found an album that I will use for PL and have moved this year into that album and have everything else from the previous year in the other album. I figure this way I can keep some sort of order my scrapping. Now, I haven't been completely good about not buying things. I bought a few things that were at the local discount scrapbook store and some Smash accessories since they were 30 % off at AC Moore this week. If you even remotely like the stuff you should consider making a trip to the store. They have some things that I haven't seen in other stores.

I'll try and get some pics up of my album and the cards that I've made. I was really productive last night and made about 6 cards. I did use my Thickers on a few of them because I'm trying to use up my stash instead of holding on to them. So they fairly plain since the Thickers took up most of the card front. Well maybe I won't post the pics of the cards until I get them sent out, haha. That would definitely ruin the surprise for some people.

I also want a Silhouette Cameo. Anyone have one that wants to let me know what they think of there's? I've just been really impressed with the detail that it can cut that the Cricut can not. Definitely need to figure out a way to get one. There's not really any good excuses coming up that I can think of for getting one as a present :) Let me know if you think of one!
We have had a lot going on in our lives and my crafting and blogging have had to take a backseat. We sold our house and had to move within two weeks. We're also preparing for a life-alternating experience. We're excited about also nervous. Work has been crazy and has maybe settled down for a little while but is about to start getting crazy again with the end of the school year coming up. Also, I'll hopefully be able to put some pics up of the projects I've made in the mean time. I've not been able to do a whole lot in the past few months. I have also been good about not buying too much stuff recently also but that is changing due to the wonderful stuff from CHA.

I've made a video of some recent purchases, which is over on my YouTube channel. What I'm really excited about right now is starting Project Life. I think it's such a great idea and realized that I'd done a bit of it before with the Simple Stories line. I still love their stuff. We R Memory Keepers has the various page dividers that you can use. So I debated for a while about buying the products. I could just piece things together rather than spending the money on the products but in the end I decided to buy some. You may ask why would you do that if you'd figured out you could piece it together?....Well, I like the products that they have out there and I am going to combine the Project Life products and my own supplies. So I'll be doing a hybrid Project Life, I guess. Which I think is what this and scrapbooking is all about...doing your own thing and getting to leave your mark. I like that I can do little layouts or just some journaling and still feel like I'm documenting what's going on in our lives. Anyway, my package arrived today with my Project Life goodies so I'm really excited. I'm going to try and post or at least take pictures or videos regularly on my progress. I also need to do an update on my Junque Journal. I'm definitely not going to do it every day or even try and do it every week but maybe monthly or just events that I want to have some physical memory of later.

I hope that you'll stick with me through the transition we're about to go through and keep checking back.

Thanks for stopping by.

The new Stampin' Up Holiday Mini catalog just came out. Make sure you check out the wonderful new products. As always the papers and stamps are gorgeous. They've come out with their version of "Stickles" called Dazzling Diamonds. You can add some re-inker and have custom sparkles. SU has also come out with Shaker Frames so that you don't have to snip your way to a wonderful addition to a card or layout. The major thing that SU has come out with that I'm very excited about is the Simply Scored. I love the way they've designed the scoring tool and the ease of use. There are even markers so that you don't have to remember the measurements when mass producing cards and projects.

Make sure to check out all of the new goodies by clicking on the mini catalog on the right and click the link to shop.

The junque journal is going well. I have about 85% of the pages either covered or inked. I want to do the others but I got distracted, of course. I decided to try art journaling also. It's also fun because of the freeing element to it. It doesn't matter what it looks like because it's just for me. I think I was really doing a form of it when I was younger but it wasn't called that or at least not as big. I think I have about 3 or 4 journals or sketchbooks going. I have two for art journaling, one as a Junque Journal, and two as inspiration books - 1 is for decorating and the other is crafting/ideas. Ah, so many ideas and things to do, so little time. I have a week left until I have to go back to school. We got my husband's room straightened out but I still have mine left to organize. It's a mess too. I'm not sure about where to put stuff and the file cabinet with a bunch of my supplies has been locked on me and I don't have the key. I'm gonna have to get someone to drill out the lock. Anyway, I'm off to bed or to go play - can't decide which.
Now I can work on it and my other UFPskrussellstudiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09858559153919632249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8164477773607882158.post-42798674078734111272011-07-20T20:12:00.000-04:002011-07-20T20:12:24.809-04:00Junque Journal Part 1Hello again!

Hooray! It's been driving me nuts all night and most of the day. I've wanted to make a junque journal. I've been meaning to start for a while now and had actually started a couple of junque/art journals/smash book but had then gotten swept up in life. Now I'm back at it. I pulled out the composition book that's been sitting in my craft area for months now and have adorned it with ribbon. I decided to tie the ribbon on both the top and the bottom. I've also gone through and crumpled some of the pages so that I can ink them later. Some of the pages tore but I'm not worried about since this is suppose to be a junque journal and can be as messy as I want. Crumpling the pages has already added a significant amount of depth to the book. It'll be interesting to see what happens when I start adding other things in. I'll take some pictures and add them on here later so that you all can join me in the journey. I'm also going to make a smash book and an art journal. I think I'll make them for presents also. I'm looking forward to using up my stash and creating again.

I received my inspiration from a bunch of creative people on YT. Check out tangiebaxter, littleglimpses, journalartista, and chrispea to name a few.
I know it's been a while but things have been crazy around here. It seems that the family has just spent the summer at the doctor's office. I've had to go a couple of times. My husband has had to go a few times and my Grandmom had to have rotator cuff surgery. She then had to be in a pillow sling for 6 weeks - this does not make for a happy Grandmom. She is out of it now and going to physical therapy to regain the use of her shoulder. School has been crazy also but there is a good side. I have one more class and then I am FINISHED!!! I'm so excited about almost being through. It seemed like it would take forever. Another good thing, I passed my Administrator's exam. So I can now be fully licensed as an Administrator. I am not looking to be an administrator right away, maybe somewhere down the road. We start school in a couple of weeks so we're going to try and finally squeeze in a trip to the beach. Then hopefully I can get back to my hobbies, YEAH! I'll have some updates later on.
While Alabama had some tornadoes and some unfortunate events occur we were also hit with some severe weather. We knew last night that we had some damage to our storm doors and just hoped and prayed that there wouldn't be any major damage to our house or cars. This is what we woke up to this morning.
We've already managed to clean up most of the yard and helped the one neighbor to clean up the tree that just barely missed his house. It's been a busy morning. This house we left the way it is because we figured the insurance people need to come and check out the damage to the house.

On a lighter note, I've been doing some work lately on cards and charms and other things. Here are the ATCs I made.

Close up of flower.

I used the Sizzix ATC die to cut out the paper and backed it with medium weight chipboard. I then cut out the birdcage shape using the TH alterations mini mover and shaper. I saw the idea on a video of Tim at CHA. I cut the mini bird also from TH alterations. The flower is made from the MFT Pretty Posies die-namic and an I am Roses mini rose. I rolled the edges of each flower petal with a piercer and then poked a hole through all the layers to thread the wire on the smaller rose through to hold all the layers together. I then embossed the sentiment with Zing embossing powder. I made this for an ATC swap on YPP. I hope the ladies enjoy. I'll share my other creations in the next day or so.
I've been trying to work on them slowly but I think I'm working a little too slow, ha. I've got two of the birthday cards made. One is for my mil and the other is for my sil. I still have to make one for my niece and then I need to make 6 Easter cards. I've also signed up for a few swaps. I need to make 10 ATCs, 3 swivel clasp charms, 2 sets of 5 dress forms and then glam up the set of 5 dress forms that I'd already made. I also have to do a layout for a friend, start thinking about Mother's Day cards, and then my brother's birthdays and my dad and another niece's birthday. There's going to be a lot of card making in the near future. Plus, I have a ton of school work. I had thought that tonight I would be good and do school work when I got home. Then when I was at work I decided I really needed to get some of my crafting stuff completed. So what have I done since I've been home, nothing related to those two things. I've managed to make dinner and then waste time on web. I made myself get off a little bit ago and then I went on a search for my ATCs that I'd started and along the way figured out that I could keep my La Blanche stamps in the photo organizer that I picked up on Sat. It was 50% off plus I had a coupon for $5 off of $25. I'd been looking at the organizer for a while. I also found the set of Spellbinder dies that I had misplaced, remember the large circles that should be in my binder well I found them, yeah!

Here are my cards, the first one is a sketch from the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club

I managed to get some things made last week. Yeah, exciting. Pics are below. I managed to make some cards that I'm going to send off to Operation Write Home when I get a few more made. I've been wanting to make cards for them for about a month now. The cards are simple so that they will withstand the trips that the cards will take. I also managed to do a little bit of coloring and made some books. The books I made were to hold my dies, both Spellbinders and My Favorite Things. I have to make two more books for the spellbinders. That may be a sign ;) I love the storage books though and made a couple for friends. Both friends really like them and want me to show them how to make more. I made a video of the process which is on my YouTube channel or you can watch it below:

I had to make two videos in order to fit it all in.

I need to take some pics of the other books but that will have to wait until I see my friends again.

Oh, I've been a stamping fool lately. I've finally stamped images in my little coloring book. I love it. I feel like I'm five again, hehe. Most of the images are from The Greeting Farm. I love their stamps! I'll share some pics later.

Here are the cards I made. I used My Mind's Eye Stella & Rose collections and MFT stamps and die-namics along with some Lawn Fawn stamps.
I've been working and working on getting it completed before Sat. I've sooo wanted to do some crafty things though. It's been hard to resist the urge but I've been able to so far. Now, that's not to say that I haven't been distracted by things that are going on online. I've been plenty distracted there ;) Work has been busy also. It's just been a crazy week so far. I'm almost finished with my portion of the paper we're writing but I've reached a block. I can't see to get any more information on paper or connect the parts that I do have. I also realized how much work I have to do before the semester is up. I'm thinking the next few months are not going to be very productive for me in terms of crafting. The house work has also been piling up but I've been trying to do one little thing a day. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know what's been going on and that I probably won't get to do as much crafting as I'd like to in the next month or so. Better take all the chances I can get :) I'm planning on next week being able to do some crafting and go crop with some friends.
I used the Sweethearts cricut cartridge along with some MFT die-namics and stamps, and a couple of Lawn Fawn stamps. I tried to use the wedding colors and the bride's favorite color. The one thing that was hard to decide on was the hair color for the bride, she likes to play with her hair color but I decided to use a shade of blonde.
I'm so excited. I found the cricut cartridge Kate's ABCs. WOOHOO!!!! Yeah! I decided to go into Joann's really quickly and see if they had the cartridge. I first looked where they keep all the tags that you can take up to the front to redeem the cart but nothing. Then I looked below where they have a small display of carts that are behind glass. It was sitting there in the bottom, just waiting for me. So I rushed up to the front to ask for someone to get it out for me. The lady was nice enough to even let me look at a couple of other carts that were in the case too. I decided to just buy this cart and I couldn't be happier. I paid more for it than I would normally pay for a cart but it is just too perfect. The name, the images, it even has an alphabet. How much better could you get. I think the little girls are so cute and I love the animals. As an added bonus, there's a jar shape that I can use. I've already hidden all of the features that I don't want on the jar, so that it's just a plain jar. Yeah! Anyway, I'm off to go play tomorrow and it's going with me so that we can all play.
Hobby Lobby has their own version of the "Clip it Up". Their version is called the Clip & Spin. It's $34.99 plus you can use a coupon on it so it's much more economical than the "Clip it Up." While I have really liked the "Clip it Up" from afar I could just not justify spending the money if I wasn't sure that I had the space for it. It seemed like it would take a lot of space and I didn't have that big of a permanent area for a long time. Since I've now got some space I figured, why not? and for $21 I figured now was the time to try it. I've been an organizing mood recently. I think it will help me to be able to create better because I'll know where stuff is. I just had a mild panic tonight when I realized I wasn't sure where some of my Greeting Farm stamps were. I had looked in the place where I keep them but hadn't opened it up enough. Whew! Enough rambling, here's two pictures of it.
I made a video explaining what I have on it, it's here.

I placed a couple of orders so be on the look out for haul videos and updates. YEAH!!!

Anyway, I haven't done anything productive the last few days. I have school work to be doing. I've really got to get on the stick (is that right?). I did manage to make dinner tonight. We'd been mostly eating frozen Boston Market meals or pizza. Since I was sick all of last week I really didn't feel like cooking and I hadn't really done a whole lot of it the week before. Here's what I made:

It's Penne alla Vodka. The one suggestion I have if you make it is to make sure there isn't a strong vodka smell before you continue the recipe, otherwise it's going to taste a little like vodka. I should have cooked it longer to reduce the alcohol more. I think it's suppose to have a hint but this was a little stronger than a hint. I couldn't finish it. Hubby liked it alright, so not a total lose.

One other thing to share. Hubby has been working on fixing his guitar and totally redid all the electronics. He put Texas specials and a new pick guard on his electric guitar and then did some other things I can't remember. Here's the finished product. I think he did a great job.
I've finished my first 12x12 layout!

I completed it for a YPP layout challenge. We had to use a love song as either the title or somewhere in the layout. I decided to use the song, "I Will Always Love You" as the title of the layout. Our wedding colors were white and black with red as an accent so the paper pad from Me & My Big Ideas was perfect. The font is the Gypsy font, the ribbon is from my stash and the butterflies are Martha Stewart punches.

I also finally took some pics of the prize from Graphic 45. Thank you Graphic 45 team!
I'll try and keep you all informed of what I create.
I've been really sick for the past couple of days. I knew I was getting sick over the weekend and was trying my best to ward it off. I didn't do a very good job. :( It's been so bad that I took off of work and it's almost always easier to go to work then to make arrangements to be out. As my mom and I tell each other, I feel blucky! She was kind enough to bring our favorite sick food, potato soup, yum! It's not all fancy like the soup you would get at the restaurant it's just plain old potato soup. Always seems to do the job when you don't want anything else to eat. I did actually have my first food craving today which I think is a good sign. I'm gonna take tomorrow off and then I hope I'll be well enough to go back to work on Friday.

In the meantime I need to be working on cards and finishing up my recipe cards. I've been trying to be better about posting and getting my projects up. I am close to finishing the scarf I was working on but I figured it wouldn't be good to work on it while I'm sick. I'm sure the germs couldn't hang on for that long but I don't want to take any chances. Plus, I haven't really felt like doing anything the past couple of days. I've thought about it a couple of times but alas, nothing has come of it. Maybe tomorrow will be a crafty day. :)

Hope you all are staying well.krussellstudiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09858559153919632249noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8164477773607882158.post-77145279559931832332011-02-19T19:08:00.000-05:002011-02-19T19:08:39.477-05:00WHAT?!?! Why was I not informed?!?!?!??!?!Why was I not informed that there is a cricut cartridge named after me??!?!??!????!??!??! I'm very distressed now because I can't find it without it being really expensive. I'm super excited there is one, actually there's two but I don't have an imagine so that cart was not a possibility. I want this one:
