Keep forgetting to post projects

I have a few new projects that I need to post but I keep forgetting to once I get the computer out. I'm working on the calendar pages for the 2011 Calendar swap on The Beach. I also have decided to make a little 4x4 calendar for myself or maybe to give to a family member. When I get them finished I'll post them. Anyway, I need to make a video of the card that I made for my niece and nephew so they know how to work their card. You'll see what I mean when I get the pic/video posted.

I am still around

Hey all,

I am still alive. I know it's been forever and I keep thinking I'm coming back on a regular basis but alas. I've been busy with the start of school and trying to learn a new curriculum. I was so excited at the start of this year when I found out that I was going to get to teach something new but it has kept me very busy. Also, I started back to school myself. I have started a program that meets once a month on sat, all day, and is a year long. I should be working on my school work right now, but decided to check out blogger. I've tried to keep up with my crafting but have not a good job of posting it.

I did realize the other day that I have 100 subscribers on YT. YEAH!! I think I'm going to get a giveaway together. So if you are a subscriber, keep a look out.

Also, I still have those kits for sale over at my etsy store.

Jubilee Mini Album Kit for sale

Hey all,

I love the Jubilee collection from K&Company. Unfortunately I haven't had time yet to play with it. School starting again always takes some time to get everything ready and get back into the swing of things. I hope that someone else has time to play so I've put a mini album kit for sale on my etsy site but here's the direct link:

Here are some pics.

Go check it out if you're interested.

What I have been working on during my absence

Here are some of my creations for the months of May, June, and July.

This is the inside of a wedding card. I left the area under the Happily Ever After unglued so that it would act as a little pocket. I used the Storybook cricut cartridge along with two Martha Stewart punches.

Here is the anniversary card that I made for my husband. I colored the Fleur Anya stamp in using Copics. I tried colored her to look similar to me. I haven't really gotten the hang of coloring darker skin yet. I used the spellbinders labels four for the mats and the sentiment stamp is from Studio G.

An easel card with Fleur Anya again but I colored her to look like my mom when she was younger. I used Damask sizzix embossing folder for the background mats and a stamp from Autumn Leaves Stampology.

Finally, a swing or flip-flop card for my sister-in-laws birthday. The owl is from Cornish Heritage Farms (so sad they are selling). The solid paper is from DCWV and the patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye.

I'm back...again

Whew! What a crazy summer it's been. I am sorry for being absent for so long but my poor mom has had a rough time. So after they attempted the one procedure, they realized they were going to have to do the major operation. After that was scheduled, they had to move her surgery up by two weeks. We were all kind of caught off guard...I know I was at least. I had all these plans to get different scrapping stuff finished but no dice. The surgery went well and the doctors were all pleased with the healing process. There were lots of other issues though.

She was in the ICU for about 5 days longer than she needed to be because of the type of pain meds they had her on. She completely out of it and saying things that didn't make any sense. She finally came home the first time after about 10 days in the hospital. She was home for about a week and then she went back to the emergency room due to some weird pains in her side and was admitted again for about a week. We got her home once again for about 6 days and then had to take her back to the hospital. This time because she had lost about 5 lbs. since being home because she just couldn't eat anything. She had no appetite or desire to eat.

Since the beginning of the illness she's lost about 25 lbs. This time the doctors tried numerous things to try and get her to eat...mostly appetite stimulates. They sorta worked. She's also had a feeding tube down her nose and throat for about a month now. This is how she's getting most of her nutrients. She spent about a week in the hospital and has been home now for about a week and a half (I've sort of lost track of time - just started measuring time by her being in the hospital or not in the hospital). She is eating more now and seems to be maintaining the weight. She isn't eating enough to gain any weight but she has at least not lost a significant amount.

I was finally able to finish the mini for Lilly. I also managed to get the tags out from the swap that I hosted months ago. I will be hosting another one for the month of August. Hopefully will not have the same issues that I had with the last one. We did get to remodel our kitchen. My husband had to do all of the prep work due to my trips to the hospital. I did manage to help out with the painting and installing the floor. Painting the kitchen ended up being no small task but we'll talk about that later.

School is about to start soon. I think I have a week and a half left. Basically this whole summer is gone and I don't know where the time went. I have some videos and pictures that I need to get up. I've actually been able to do some things since my mom has been home and the kitchen is finished. I went to a class at my LSS and created this cute mini travel album. I will get pictures of it up soon...I have finished decorating but don't have the pictures in yet because I want to print some more out to put in it. I'm going to create one for all our trips now. It's a nice small reminder of what you did. It can be my journal and scrap album all in one. I'm also getting to work on the mini for my friend who had ovarian cancer. I'll get some pics up when I get some more work done on it. I'm going to meet some ladies tomorrow and work on a few projects.

I also want to have another contest for my return to blogger, youtube, and the scrapping world. I'll post more details later when I get things together.

I'm back...I think and Swap info

OMG...I am sorry for being away for so long but there has been craziness going on. So my husband and I had this trip all planned out to Nashville, and had been planning it for a while. Well wouldn't you know that we got caught in the flood and were evacuated. We spent several days getting all of our stuff and ourselves out of Nashville. I will post pictures later. Then I had to prepare my students for the big state test that they have to take at the end of my class. Which doesn't really happen at the end of the school year. BAH! My mom is having surgery on Monday because they finally figured out what is wrong with her and she has had all of the pre-op tests and other things. Thank goodness they figured out what is wrong with her. Then some how in spite of my efforts to not sign up for a lot of things this month, I ended up with 5. Double BAH!

SWAP INFO!!
Anyway, to the two ladies that signed up for my tag swap...I'm still game if you are. We would only need to make 3 and then you would mail two to me and I'll mail two back. Hope that makes sense. Unless you want to try and make more...I'll leave it up to what you all would like to do. I'll need you to either leave a comment or email me at krussellstudio@gmail.com, about whether you are still in and if you want to try and make more than just 3. Maybe we can push the due date back to the end of the month...that way we have some more time. I would really like to do this swap. Maybe if we do it again we can get more people.

New goodies

Sorry for the long absence. It's been busy here. Although at times it seems like we haven't done a whole lot. Things might get hectic soon because we are going to start preparing to renovate the kitchen. We're going to try and gather the materials first, then try and do the renovation in one quick go.

I got some new goodies today from BlueMoonScrapbooking. The shipping was super fast and I got a couple of free goodies. Check out my video on YouTube. I love all of the paper and ribbon. It's going to be yummy in some minis or in some cards. The stamp set from 7Gypsies will be perfect for the mini I am working on for Lilly, my TWS mini partner. I really need to get going on finishing that mini. I have unfortunately not had a whole bunch of time to work on crafty things. I did manage to get some of my tags and my ATCs finished. I can't wait to get my first set of ATCs.

I am making a deal with myself that I may do a couple of tag and ATC swaps but I'm not going to join another mini swap until I get the mini for my friend finished. I also need to work on the one that I started for my mom a long time ago. So many things to finish. Hopefully I'll be online more now and update more.

Clean, clean, clean

I didn't really get to do anything creative today - in terms of paper crafting. I did get to make this:

Yummy cake with homemade chocolate icing.

Hubby and I spent most of the evening cleaning up the house. I spent the early part cleaning and he took over doing most of it during the later part, or is it latter part??? I finally had to straighten and de-clutter the main area I was using to do my crafting, which is the dining room table. I still have stuff there, I just moved the bulk of it to an extra desk in the office area. I can't decide which area I would prefer to work in. I'll just try them both out and then make up my mind. The benefit to the dining room is that I can watch tv at the same time if I want. The downside is that if hubby decides to watch something or play a game, I have to listen to it. I haven't really tried the office yet. It would allow me to leave stuff out more, since no one would see it as much.

Getting worried though because I washed the quilt for our bed and I don't think it's dry yet. It is 11:00 in the evening. We need to go to bed soon. Guess it'll be another late night, as usual. Haha! :)

Anyway, don't forget to sign up for my giveaway. Remember there are 3 things you need to do in order to be entered.

I also threw in some cute pink clips in a swirl, heart, and butterfly shape.

Spring Kit Blog Candy Giveaway!

Hey check out Kellie's blog for her awesome giveaway. She's celebrating 100,000 hits. What an awesome number and an awesome giveaway. Thanks Kellie for being generous and having the giveaway.

Here's a pic of the Spring Swiss Pixies Kit. Click either on her name or on the pic to be taken to the post.

Yummy, markers

I had such a great time yesterday at the class. I messed up though when I was picking markers with one of the instructors and got a duplicate. I really want to go back and exchange the marker. Maybe today, maybe later this week. I'll post what I created in a little bit.

We finished with our yard. We spread topsoil, mulch and I planted our flowers while my husband seeded and fertilized the yard. It looks awesome. It will also help my husband with mowing because we evened out most of the holes or places where there were roots. He says he shouldn't have to mow for a bout a month so that the grass has a chance to grow. It should look good later on this year.

Now, how to get back to the store.....hehe.

Craziness this week

Oh boy, thank goodness this week is over. It was not easy getting the kids back in the swing of being back in school. It has not been a good week for any of us. Someone also told me that we are going to have a full moon soon, so they'll be extra crazy. I really do think that there is something about a full moon. I've had to deal with kids being mad at me, parents upset about kids grades - not with me thank goodness. I need to remember to stay calm and not let them get to me.

I haven't been able to really do any creating lately though, and I think that has made me cranky because I haven't been able to relax. I'm going to a copic class tomorrow, so I should have my creative juices going tomorrow evening. I'm also planning on checking out some stores while I'm in town. :) I did get to finish the tags for my tag swap on the {Scrap}beach. Check out the video on my YouTube channel.

We're planning on working on the yard tomorrow. My husbands going to seed the yard, I'm going to plant some flowers and we'll both work on spreading topsoil and fertilizer around. Then I can go play. Sunday, I'll need to grade quizzes and start working on the different swaps that I signed up for. If you haven't already you all should stop by "Your Paper Pantry" and join my tag swap.

Finished with first mini swap!

Woohoo! I finished my first mini swap. I really hope that Tracy likes the mini. It was a ton of fun of to make. I will post a video once she receives it. I hope I did everything right in mailing it to her. Hopefully it won't get stuck in customs or somewhere crazy. Now I need to get my tags finished!

We went back to school today so I don't know how much time I will have. Although you would think being on Spring Break I would have been able to play more but my husband and I decided to do some spring cleaning and trying to fix things in the house. I need another week off so that I can do what I was planning on doing ;)

I have been looking for a dress form to use to either hold ribbon or to use as decoration. I have a lead on where to get one so I really want to go look for one but I'm trying to get good. Maybe I'll go around the middle of the week. If I had thought about it I could have gone yesterday when I went to check out the stamps at Big Lots. We'll see how long I hold out, haha.

Some of my recent small creations

Hey all,

Here's some of the smaller things that I have been working on. This is the ATC that I created for the March ATC Swap at the Beach. Here are the lollipop flowers that I made tonight. I used the big one in the mini for Tracy and may use the smaller ones also. We'll just have to wait and see ;)

My mom was sick again today. It wasn't as bad as last time, thank goodness. I ran some of her minor errands and got her prescription at the pharmacy. When I finally left she was feeling better but I'm still worried about her. I was planning on working on the mini for Tracy but it looks like I will have to do that tomorrow. I'm really hoping to get the chance tomorrow to work on it. Anyway, I picked up some things at the store today to help in finishing the mini. I picked up the fabric so that I could make some flowers that would go better with the album than the brighter ones that I already had. It's okay though because I wanted the flowers anyway, so this was just a good excuse to go and get them. I do need to start being good about getting stuff now though. It's just so hard because there's all this neat stuff out there. I feel like I'm behind. I've had my eye on the mini attacher - I may have to pick that up later this week. Anyway, my plan is to check out Micheal's again and some other stores Saturday when I go for the crop and the class. I'm super excited about Sat.

I'm off to go work on the mini.

Goodies from Michael's

So I went to Michael's today and found the new set of Mary Engelbreit chipboard albums. I love them. They are super cute. I just may have to go back and get some more. I am going to do a giveaway with some of the stuff I got today since I was able to snag a bunch. I will put details up later when I get everything together. You can watch the video on my YouTube channel, krussellstudio to check out what I got.

What a crazy few days!

Well the past few days have been full of excitement. My mom had been playing off how sick she was until yesterday. She went to the doctor and was apparently okay until you drank some water and then a few hours later she was in such horrific pain that I had to take her to the emergency room. She should only be about 20 - 30 min. away from the ER but because they closed the bridge down that connects her to the main part of town it took an extra 30 min. to get there. I felt so bad for her but there was no way I was turning around. She was in so much pain that it was making her sick...so once they were able to give her enough pain meds and nausea medicine, she was better and able to eat some ice chips. My grandmom was a trooper yesterday. She had spent most of the day with my mom and was worn out by the time they decided to call me to come take her. She was full of so much nervous energy that she was talking non-stop. Thankfully my husband went with me and was able to distract her some so I could take care of my mom. We spend about 6 or 7 hours at the ER waiting to hear what they were going to do. They finally admitted her, which was for the best because she had a test scheduled anyway in the morning. We went home about 1:30 since we had been waiting an hour or more for them to actually admit her and get her in a room. My husband had taken my grandmom home much earlier. She was worn out.

Well, today my husband and I had to administer the ACT to the juniors at our high school. I was so worn out and tired I thought I was going to fall over at one point during testing. We made it though with no major incidences. Checked in with my mom and they didn't find anything major during her test but they still aren't sure what is causing the pain. She has another test tomorrow, so they kept her again. Which is good because today she was allowed to have a liquid diet. I think she had two milkshakes, some coke, and a lot of water. She said she is dreaming of all the things she wants to eat when she gets out of the hospital. She hasn't been able to really eat anything for the past 5 days. Poor husband is sick to top everything off. I also had to check on the cat today but that takes an extra 20 min. than it should one way to get to the cat. Poor thing is lonely but she is okay.

Needless to say, no extra work was being done by me. My husband was able to contact the people for the play and they said not to worry about the jumper, someone else is going to sew it. I also haven't been able to work on the mini, tags, or atc cards. Oh well, maybe later this week or next week when we are off for spring break. Hopefully things will settle down now.

Sunday, March 7, 2010

No workie on mini = sad

So I didn't get a chance to work on the mini today like I wanted to. My mom has been sick for the past few days so I went to check on her and spend some time with her. She has issues sometimes with her stomach, and it's acting up again. I also have to sew a jumper for the Senior Play before Wednesday, maybe they need it sooner? I went to find the few things that I need that they did not give me but I didn't have any success. I will have to check Hobby Lobby tomorrow - if they don't have it I'm not sure what I'll do. I am off to go sew. I had to spend about an hour transferring the marks and cutting some of the pieces that weren't done before. Now I seem to be having issues with the lining matching the actual piece. I think I have something worked out though. Will just have to see how it turns out. Wish me luck.

Coloring flowers with Copic and huge deal!!!

Check out my video on YouTube of the flowers I colored for the tag swap this month.

Wal-mart has the Crop-A-Dile and Big Bite on clearance for $10. I have been eyeing the Big Bite for a while. So I got it today in orange to match my Crop-A-Dile. I was tempted by the pink but decided that I would like for the two to match. I would like to get the corner chomper that cuts the scallop and cloud shape corners one day and I think that is pink - probably different shade though. Anyway, go check it out!

BLEH!

I have had a head cold for the past couple of days. It has really wiped me out a few times. Today we got out early, for rain (I mean snow...it had stopped doing this by the time we got to leave), and I promptly went to sleep. It was good we got out early because I felt bad about the last hour of school. I did finally get a tripod. I found a Gorillapod at Walmart - very exciting. I have been wanting to do a tutorial on using the Martha Stewart scoring board but I sound funny because of the cold. I will do one when I am better. Meanwhile, I've been playing with Copics - very fun. I also need to play with the GM more. I did learn that you probably shouldn't spray something that you plan on touching a lot afterwards. Is there some way to set it or seal it? I keep getting glimmer on myself whenever I touch the cover of the mini I'm working on.

Whew, all done!

Well, I definitely don't feel well. I was going to work today at the Habitat Store but once I was there I was feeling wiped out and couldn't breath (through my nose). We came home and I tried to take some photos and failed because the camera was dying. My husband convinced me to take a nap, not that it took a lot of convincing. I slept for 3 hours but I felt better when I woke up. My nose is still a little messed up though. I was finally able to finish taking photos and resize pictures so that I could submit them for the Graphic 45 Design Team call. I'm not holding my breath but it would be nice to be able to design for them. I know there are people out there that either have more experience or are more talented than me. It was fun trying though. I will post pictures of my projects below. I didn't really do a layout because I don't have a lot of pictures. They are all still at my mom's or on the computer but we don't have a digital printer or is it a laser printer?? I will probably try one now that I have everything submitted, haha. Anyway, now I just have to wait.

In the meantime, I need to get started on some sewing, making tags, making a mini for Tracy, and deciding if I want to join the ATC swap on The Beach. I can't decide if it will be too much or not. I'm also hesitant because I feel like I don't have the materials to go along with the theme for the month and I don't really want to have to go buy more. Trying to be good. Don't need to buy more things. This will probably last until tomorrow when I am suppose to go meet up with a new paper crafting group in the area. I have in my head that I will stop by Joann's and a LSS really quick and get a couple of things. You know how getting a couple of things goes though ;) Well, maybe while I am there I can get some things to do the ATC swap, haha.

I'm off to go play with either the markers or the glimmer mist.

Tag-on-a-Tag - there is a background stamp but it is hard to see sometimes. You can just make out it out on the right hand side of the tag.

This is a clipboard that I altered using mod podge to adhere the paper and then I used a rose ribbon adhered to chipboard to attach to the clip.

I altered a simple frame from creatology by adhering the frame to chipboard and then covering it with the paper frame. I inked the inside edges of the frame black and the pocket is adhered to the back side so that you can slip a picture in. If we go on a cruise, I think I'll put a picture of it in this frame.

I used distress ink to color the background and do the edges. Then I added the prima flower riboon.

This is the back of a simple tag I had made for another mini. The dots are stickers. I attached an embossed butterfly to a piece of die-cut card stock.

Shh! Secret giveaway!

Prima is having a secret giveaway!! Check out their website.

Joanns=Glimmer Mist!!

I got my Joann's order a day earlier than expected!! So excited!! I get to play with glimmer mist now. If you all have any advice, please let me know. Here's a video for your enjoyment while I am off to play!

Awesome find!!

Hey all,

So I went to a class today at a local store, Scrapbooks & More. I had such a great time and all of the ladies were so nice. Thank you Amy and Melanie who were the instructors. I had such a great time in class and learned a lot. I got to try out the Copic markers and now I am hooked. I love them. They are markers that I wish I had known about a while ago. I will definitely be signing up for the next class. Anyway, while I was there I, of course, picked up a few things. I ended up with about 16 markers, a stamp pad, paper to use with the Copics, a super cute dress form stamp, the stamps that I colored and then my find!!! They just received the Martha Stewart scoring board. It comes with a scorer and as a bonus a template to make envelopes. The price put it over the top, it was way cheaper than either the Scor-it or Scor-pal. It has lines all the way to the end. I am super, super excited about it. I will post a video on it tomorrow. I found out Sat. that my camera was dead, when I tried to take it to the zoo with me. I also kept forgetting to bring it back into the house until today, haha. So no camera for me tonight. I also purchased a few other things which I will also video tomorrow. For now, I am super excited about the Copic markers and the scoring board. Woohooo!!!

Tripod help!

Hey all,

I want to start making some tutorials and videos of my stuff without having to hold the camera. That's why I haven't done more videos and put off making videos of some of my minis. I need a tripod thought. Does anyone have any suggestions about a good but decent priced tripod for a smaller camera? Also, I would like to get a small camcorder (are they still called that??). Any suggestions??? I know some people have a flip, are they good? I would like one that will last though.

Thanks for the help.

The past few days

Since we've been out for the past two days I have been trying to create new projects. It's going pretty well, so far. I've been happy with the results. I will post some pictures when I get finished. I still need to do a video on the minis that I have made. I also want to get started on a mini for a couple of friends, my mom, my grandmom, and my nieces. I guess they'll just have to go on the list of things to do. I am also trying to be good and stick to a budget in terms of spending but it's hard when Joann's and Michael's both have sales. I probably spent way too much at Joann's and didn't get enough stuff at Michael's but it's probably better for my wallet that way (not the Joann's part, haha). Oh and of course I've seen some other things to spend money on. Bluemoonscrapbooking has a bunch of new stuff from Maya Road that is adorable. Definitely going to have to get some of it. Plus, I want to get a Corner Chomper from Crop-a-Dile. Also, I am trying to hold out so that I can get some of the new Tim Holtz dies and other products when they come out. Does anyone know what the price range is for the new stuff?

1st Card

The front of the birthday card for my Grandmom. I added some ribbon and glitter glue.
The inside of the card. I used the Cuttlebug Birthday Wishes card combo die and embossing folder, along with the two-step cake die.

How it all started...

Hey all,

I am starting up this blog to share my various creations. I got into scrapbooking in late December and love it. Around the same time I also learned to sew. After not really creating anything in a while, because I was in school, I was itching to create. I use to draw, paint, and do photography when I was in high school but once I entered college, I let it all go to the wayside. Now, I'm back and loving it. I have created 5 minis now, and made a few things with the sewing machine. I am hoping to get pictures up soon.

It all really started with me finding one of those discount books on making cards and scrapbook layouts around Christmas time. It seemed really interesting to make your own card and now it has developed into making minis. I love learning new techniques and seeing what various products are out there. I am looking forward to sharing ideas with other people and getting to know all the wonderful people out there that love the same things I do.
